35th Session of the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights HA-1-12-05

 

Welcome to the 49th distribution of information relating to the recommendations of the seven human rights treaty bodies. The present email conveys the results of the 35th session of the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (7-25 November 2005).

1. State party reporting
At this session, the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights issued its concluding observations on the reports of the following States parties to the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights:

2. General Comments
In addition, the Committee adopted 2 general comments on the provisions of the Covenant, as follows.

- General Comment No. 17 on the right of everyone to benefit from the protection of the moral and material interests resulting from any scientific, literary or artistic production of which he is the author (http://www.ohchr.org/english/bodies/cescr/docs/gc17.doc), and
- General Comment No. 18 on the right to work (text not yet available).

3. Next session
At its 36th session (May 2006), the Committee will consider the reports of the following States parties:
Canada, Liechtenstein, Mexico, Monaco, and Morocco.
